Publishing Documents with Copy Permissions but Without Version History

I'm looking to publish a set of documents so that anyone can copy them (to be able investigate how things were done, make tweaks, etc. as they want) and have access to the latest version, but while keeping the version history (specifically the contributor names) private. Are there any tricks or other methods anyone knows to share files meeting these criteria? I looked around and found a couple methods, but they each have downsides.

  1. Make document Public - allows copy and access to latest version, but does not hide contributor names.
  2. Enable Link Share - hides contributor names and allows access to latest version, but does not allow copy.
  3. Create a Publication - hides contributor names, but does not allow copy and needs to be manually updated to latest version.
  4. Create a copy of the file and make it Public - hides contributor names and allows copy, but cannot be updated to latest version. Also has a footgun with access to lower level subassemblies or components stored in other files.
  5. Insert the top assembly into a new Public file - hides contributor names, but does not allow copies of the assemblies or components and needs to be manually updated to latest version.
