Adding a chamfer to a mesh

bob_e_kleimanbob_e_kleiman Member Posts: 5

Hi I am working on altering a phone case file that I uploaded from a different website. It is a mesh and because it is too thick id like to add a chamfer where the volume and power button are to be more easily accessible. Because it is a mesh i'm aware that it is impossible. Was trying to convert it to a solid but I have no clue how. I understand it somewhere in the feature toolbar but i cannot locate. Could someone send a screenshot of it in the feature bar or how to access it.

    Hey Bob.

I understand it somewhere in the feature toolbar but i cannot locate. Nope, ain't there.

This would be a good exercise, as it's not a difficult part to model. Certain elements of the mesh can be used (Use tool) to build a sketch from. From there, other tools such Extrude, Sweep, etc. can be used to create solid elements to create the part.

Besides that, a solid model of the iphone case might have already been modeled by another Onshape user. Search Public Documents. Another source is GrabCad.

Throw it in the trash and start over with a step file import of the phone. step iPhone 14 cases/models are everwhere.
