How to Fix Extreme Lag When Typing Notes On A Drawing?

I have a drawing, not overly complex as far as I can tell (2 sheets, 15 views, a few small images inserted).
When I go to type a new line of a note, I can type the entire sentence before even the first letter will appear.
It's taking 20 seconds of lag time for the text to show up.
(I timed it multiple times).
Has anyone else experienced this?
Is there a way to fix it?
