Why can't we see "inside" of a model in non-perspective view?

I just discovered, that in perspective view we can fly through a model, see it from inside out, even select faces, vertices, etc. In some cases, it might eliminate need switching to section view.

Why can't we do the same in non-perspective view?

    If you aren't in perspective view, there is no "depth" in the graphics area, so zooming enlarges/shrinks the model rather than "getting close to it" as in perspective view. That's the main difference between the perspective/normal view.
