Slot dimensioning in drawings

david_kalishdavid_kalish Member Posts: 1 EDU

From what I can tell, you can't use the hole centermark tool to mark the center of a slot, and you can't use the hole callout tool to dimension a slot. This is standard stuff! Come on!

The slots were created in the part by sketching a line and using the slot tool to turn it into a slot, and then extrude cutting it into the part. Is there some other way to do it that makes the Drawing recognize it as a callout-friendly and centermark-friendly feature?

I'm not aware of any dedicated slot callout tool. Maybe you could include the centerline sketch in the drawing. There is an option in the RMB view context menu to show it. The sketched center line will have a center point, length, angle, etc. you could use. You could then also add more cunstruction lines, points, curves to your sketch after the fact, the'll show up in the drawing after updating.

For straight slots, you can use the "manual" center line to get the slot middle but there is no dedicated slot callout tool:

I've heard this is on their radar but who knows about timeline…

I hope these are the options they are looking at. SolidWorks has had this capability for a while now.
