Annoying behavior in the feature list

When I search for a feature (for example a Mate Connector) in the feature search field and select it so it turns blue in the feature list, everything works as expected.
However, when I press X and clear the search field, the feature is no longer highlighted in the feature list.
This behavior is quite annoying and I have run into it many times while working.
It would be much better if the selected feature remained highlighted in blue even after the search field is cleared.
