Sweep Command

Imagine sweeping a simple rectangle around a 90 degree sweep path. When I do this, it turns it into one full 'L' piece. 
Is there a way that the program can show a mitred 45 degree connection from within the sweep command?

    To specify a "line" or divide a sweep into multiple parts within the sweep tool would add quite a few extra dialogue boxes.  If you just need this in your model, try splitting it into parts with a plane..?
