Onshape has hit their daily max for adding users?

Just had an email that says this and "each day they will be adding a few more". Surely this cannot be right? Surely the point of the cloud strategy is to open up to all and not just a queue?

Hi Kevin, this is Onshape Beta, not general release.  It is an invite Beta - just like Gmail Beta was when it was first introduced.   We intend to scale our user base incrementally so that once a user is in - he or she has a consistent high quality experience.  The difference between Onshape Beta and Onshape pre-production is that there is no NDA (Beta is public) and we are letting in many many more users.

We have designed and tested to very high levels of scale and today's impressive jump in usage doesn't come anywhere close to stressing our cloud infrastructure. In addition to onboarding new users and letting them model in Onshape for the first time we are also exercising our business and support processes. These are harder to load test ahead of time so in order to make sure we continue to provide the best experience for all customers, we're limiting the rate at which we add new users.

We're aware of (and flattered by) the huge demand for Onshape and as soon as we vet all parts of the process we will have everyone invited.
