Cannot extrude remove due to "merge scope"

I finished revolving a simple wheel hub shape. 
On the revolve face I drew a circle and tried to remove extrude it. 
The extrude keeps failing telling me to select a merge scope. 
There is nothing for me to select to "merge scope".

@keeagn_karl For extrude removal you need to select the part from which material needs to be removed which is prompted by "Merge scope" dialogue in extrude window. See the below GIF animation

This'd be alright if it actually let you select it - Software not smart enough to see what it's intersecting with?

Let me suggest that you check to verify that the revolve is indeed a solid and not a surface. You cannot remove material from a surface. The sketch used for the revolve must be closed to make it solid. When the revolve is solid, I have yet to see OS not automatically select the part as the merge scope.

my 2d figure is solid and when i revolve it it is not moved to parts but just to surface

 We need to see the revolve feature, but it looks like that is set to surface instead of solid. Also, it's a good idea to fully define your sketches.
