STL export into Vectric Cut3D

On opening an STL model generated by Onshape in Cut3D it appears as it should. When I generate a cutting path it seems to take much longer than something similar I've generated from Openscad and the estimated time to cut is much longer. When I preview the cutting, it generates a wrong result, it is lower on one side than it should be. I have tried the different settings from fine to coarse with the same result.I don't know whether this is an Onshape or a Cut3D problem, my Openscad STL files didn't have this problem. Has anybody else had this problem with STL or Cut3D.

Might I recommend you try Kiri:moto? You can find it in the App Store. It looks pretty close to what Cut3D offers. The only big difference I see is the 2 sided cuts.
Kiri:moto is free
I cut all kinds of parts with it on my CNC.

When it is first opened.
When the cutting has been done in the preview. The right hand side is the same height as the front of the inner cutout.
