How to insert imported geometry into Part Studio feature tree?

I have to design parts around an imported surface/solid that I'd like to be able to update as needed at a later date. I've already built an extensive feature tree off of a preliminary surface but now I'm unable to substitute in a newly imported surface/solid. I can import the solid into it's own tab but can't seem to bring it into the feature tree of the active Part Studio. If I could "link" to the relevant surfaces as positioned in the Assembly, that would be ideal, but I can't find a way to do that either. I'm used to NX WAVE Geometry Linker, or SolidEdge/SolidWorks "inter-part link" features.

If the surfaces imported correctly into one tab and you need to use them in a different Part Studio, use the Derived command (https://cad.onshape.com/help/#derived.htm) in the Part Studio that you want the surfaces in.Jake RamsleyDirector of Quality Engineering & Release Manager onshape.com5
