surface cut outs

ok so i have a part the has a design that requires a bunch of groves and lines on sides of a part, i cant find a specific feature allowing you to take a block and cut out different sized grooved lines out of it? does anyone know how to do this? or do i have to make 50 different parts and make some thinner and some thicker? please tell me where to find punch outs that arnt holes. or atleast are not circular holes?

    You could design the groove as a solid part and transform it into position. Once you've placed the part use the Boolean feature. You can do a "subtract" boolean which uses the part you want to remove as a "tool" and removes it from the part you select in the scope. I hope this helps!
