Can you make it so only created Mate Connectors are available during assembly?

Assembly would be much easier if you could toggle a setting so only Mate Connectors created in models or the assembly were available to use, not all inferred mate connector positions. Is this possible already and I missed it? I thought Snap might be the answer but it does not seem like it.

Keeping shift pressed disables mate connector inferencing in commands that allows mate connector inferencing.
Thanks. This worked. I swear I tried this, but I just found that the trick is to not have any features or parts highlighted (pre-selected) when you press shift. If you do, you will only be limited to inferred mates on the feature or part, not mates that you added to all parts.
