Is there a way to find the date a document was shared?

From my history in the machine tool design/build industry, there can be a lot of finger pointing about why a job goes long. One of the potential areas is when review materials (models or prints) are shared and returned. The comment system does essentially take care of the second problem. But is there a way to know when a document was shared with you or when you initially shared a document with another person?
