Toggle two different mates to go through motion of floating arm trebuchet?

I am modeling up a floating arm trebuchet, everything works great, but to move the arm through its full range of motion, you have to stop, and toggle suppressing two mates as the arm transitions from two different pivots. Is it possible to automatically switch between two mates based on the angle of the arm?

In Trebuchet Assembly, as the arm reaches horizontal, you have to switch Base pivot and Arm pivot from being suppressed. It would be convenient if I could somehow do that automatically.

There's no way that I know of to actively turn a mate on or off. However, you can more or less achieve what you want via a tangent mate on a hidden spline surface.Since the roller is following a spline, the motion is only approximate, but if the spline fits your geometry well enough, there shouldn't be any appreciable difference.
