Copy workspace - What happens to derived?

I keep reading to reduce file size we should copy workspace and completely delete old document. Before I do I want to know how this will impact derived parts. Will I get errors?

@ Josy_La , Derived part will be as it is.
Only the information contained in other version and branch are lost.and the history data will be deleted.

@ Josy_La  , I think you have copied one part studio and pasted it another document. You can't purge history of a part studio. You can purge history of entire document.
For this you have to copy work space instead of copying part studio.

I did copy workspace from the Onshape document selection window instead of within open document. Was also able to purge history without any problem. Where I have an issue is that any derived parts linked to a copy-purge document are lost which I guess is a normal behavior.

@ Josy_La , I have tried both the way of "copy work space",in both case also no problem with derived part.it is appearing fine.
I think it is not a normal behavior. You can share that document with Onshape support and raise a ticket for that.they will help you on this.
