Part design

Hi all.
I just started using OnShape today. This is truly an awesome package to be using. I have a background using AutoCad and PTC Creo.
I am very keen to start designing my first product using OnShape, but I've run into a problem quite quickly.
I'm need to design parts that reference dimensions from previously designed parts. In other words, say I have an M10 bolt, I need to design a washer with the ID being a bit bigger than the bolt itsself. When the bolt size changes, so must the ID of the washer.
This is just a simple example to illustrate what I need to do.
I would appreciate your feedback immensely, as I see a lot of potential with this program.

For your exact question in the part studio with the bolt, you can create a variable to drive the bolt size and then in a new sketch, project the bolt diameter and then create an offset circle that you can then dimension a set offset distance so that if the bolt changes that ID will change. Give it a try yourself and let us know if you have any questions along the way.
