Interlocking parts

This is a bit of a newbie question: I have one part that I would like to make interlocking with another part. Since I will be 3D printing both parts, and I would like changes in one part to be reflected in the mating part, how can I mate the two parts?
The first part is here: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/d6ed69e418d1cfcad4836200/w/6e7a379f6b9f0e3e662a2e96/e/b18570d92ae2430056e8dd79
I'd like to make a lid which fits into a groove near the open top. How can I create the lid as a separate part and then use it to define the groove it slides into?
