Top-level assembly messed up

lynn_catlinlynn_catlin Member Posts: 2
Each of my sub-assembles are fine- but when I put them into a master assembly, there are mate conditions in a couple of the sub-assemblies that aren't being executed.  For example, the assembly "South Wall" is excellent - but when I have it (and the shorter wall "West Wall") in the assembly- you can see the plywood part is simply doing whatever it wants.  Here are 3 images - the full shed (the South Wall is the long wall without the window), the shed with the 2 problem walls, the full shed, and the "South Wall" assembly - which is correctly setup.

I've tried to search a bit and no luck on finding relevant postings.  Thanks for any help.

My first observation is that you are using many planar mates. Onshape's mates are designed very differently than other CAD systems and the use of planar is generally pretty rare. If your goal is to fix parts relative to one another, then you are best off using Group or the Fastened mate. There are a number of videos online and in the help documentation that describe Onshape's different mating scheme.

if you are able to make your document public and post a link to it here, we may be able to help more.
