surface not splitting object when should

I have a surface that can split a surface once, but when I try to split the same object (at a certain angle) it says that the object can not be fully split by the surface. Here's the project: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/c5d62b49a40668470e9d717d/w/0a8437eee5d862df1a11df95/e/79c2b44b73fe0f5956506a30

The two touching cylinders in the image below create an edge that touches two pieces of the same body.
You could modify the geometry around that intersection slightly one to make it work.
However, overall, I think you'll have an easier time creating the object you want by working with solids, not surfaces (doing boolean intersects or subtracts rather than splits). To make a solid out of those surfaces you can use the Fill feature.
