Choosing a plane

When doing a draft to an interior rib it doesn't seem to want to allow me to choose a plane the is interior. It tries to pick the exterior plane of the part instead. Also, if I try to put a new sketch on the same face, It won't allow me to choose it.
Can anyone help me figure this out? I am still in the tutorials and not sure where to turn.
