moving parts between assemblies

Greetings
I have several parts inserted into a main assembly that I wish to move into already inserted sub assemblies. Is there a way to do that without deleting the part(s) from the main assembly and then re-inserting them into the desired sub assembly? Would be handy.
Thanks,
Isotherm

Then go to the other doc and delete the parts form the top assy, version and update. But as Lana says it is hard without seeing the full structure.5

I get the error " Cannot be completed as it would modify a saved version" What am I doing wrong?
It sounds like your assembly references the subassembly via version, possibly the subassembly exists in another document. If this is the case, there are different options, depending on the desired document structure - too hard to advise without seeing the document.
