Extrude up to part

I am testing Onshape and ran into a problem with "extrude up to part" function. I was designing a real part which previously was designed using SolidWorks, just to see how Onshape is handling it. Unfortunately, it looks that Onshape extrudes new part/feature to the wrong surface of another part.

Bad part:

The crazy thing is, that if I make different parts just to test this function, it looks to be working just fine.

What am I missing here?

If you share a link to your document, someone will be happy to look into this for you. It looks to me in the first pic you're extruding up to a surface, not up to a part, but seeing the document would be more helpful in finding your problem.

You're right. What you're doing should work, but it doesn't. I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing OS is having trouble extruding up to the very edge of the part. In general, if you want a more robust feature, try to leave some margin at the boundary of your sketches. If you're extruding to up to a face, make sure the face is larger than the sketch you're extruding.

I was able to doi what you want by making a copy of the inside part surface and extruding up to that. A more robust solution would be to extrude to the inside bottom face and use a boolean to remove the drafted/filleted edges.

Ok, I tried solution with boolean and it works rather well. So let us call it the right one.

On the other hand, I should probably report problem with extrude up to part function?
