Filling in voids

I'm trying to figure out how to fill in two voids in a number "8" The center of the figure 8 needs filled as in between the 8 and V.

Just for the record, if you delete something, its still in your trash if you ever needed to get something back (restore).
Of course, if you emptied the trash, well, then you're ....
