how to make a sweep starting from not the origin?

wouter_visserwouter_visser Member Posts: 14
I'm modelling a vacuum cleaner and having trouble with the 'trunk' part. It's easy to draw a circle on the body of the vacuum cleaner, but I can't figure out how to make a path in a plane perpendicular to that circle, starting at the middle of the circle. Is there a feature for projecting geometry somewhere?

There are many ways to make the plane you are interested in, but I think this is probably the simplest:
    1. When sketching the profile circle, sketch a construction line which your plane should pass through
    2. Create a 'Line angle' plane through that line
    3. Sketch your sweep path on the new plane
    4. Sweep

Thanks! That was only half of the issue though, after you've made a plane with a sketch you obviously want the path for the trunk to start from the middle of the circle. To do that, the 'Use' functionality in sketch mode is needed, with that you can click the point and it copies that point to the current sketch.

Yup! 'Use' should get you that point that you need.
