flat pattern in drawings

bryan_lagrangebryan_lagrange Member, User Group Leader Posts: 825 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am going to log this for an improvement request.

I would like the ability to change the view of the flat pattern in drawings. The flat patterns are currently defaulted to one view and when you project views to flip it the bend lines do not show up or the call outs. Depending on the material you are using (especially if you buy something like pre-polished stainless steel) you need to have the bend directions in the down orientation. It is a mix bag when calling in flats. Half default the way I need them and the other half do not which I would need to change the view of the flat but like stated above I get no bend lines or notes.

On another note I would like to have the ability to change the angle call out. What Onshape defaults to I need the complimentary of that angle because that is what my Trumpf press brake needs.

Thank you

Bryan Lagrange

I used to (using other Cad) setup my sheet metal DXF exports for any stainless steel or aluminium parts (with protective film) to export with the film up for laser cutting. I would then flip my flat patterns to show up bends instead of down bends (as exported to DXF); so that the press brake operator already has the drawing and part orientated correctly for folding; as 95% of the time; the laser film will be external.
