Help With Sketches and Extrudes

When I hit the green check on a sketch instead of solid grey line which I can extrude I get dashed grey one which I cant extrude why is thay

    Dashed lines are construction lines. They're used to construct geometry but cannot be used to create features. Select the line in question and click Q or hit the Construction button =>  in order to convert it to a solid line.

    Also, it seems you're likely pretty knew to 3D CAD. You can learn a lot of this kind of basic knowledge by running through the tutorials. I'd start here.
