How can I add a part in Isolated view?

jon_woellhafjon_woellhaf Member Posts: 92 ✭✭✭

When I isolate several parts, how can I add another isolated part?

As it is now, when I isolate nine parts and realize I omitted the tenth, I have to start over.

My instinct tells me I should be able to just add parts by click on the tree but to make this happen I have to exit the isolate pick the parts in the tree then reactive the isolate. @john_mcclary I find the slider weird to use but maybe that's just related to my use cases for this tool.

Maybe we just need another improvement request

so far I have found isolate to be useless for anything other than design review. So the slider make sense when you are talking and you want to slowly add connected parts. Pretty useful for that actually.

In solidworks I would use Isolate constantly to temporarily hide parts so I can select a hidden face to mate to.

OnShape makes me use hide other parts instead to get the same result, but then right click and show all parts. Isolate won't let you "click through" any transparent faces like in solidworks, so it is for visual stimulation only :)

@john_mcclary , I used the isolate yesterday to mate 2 internal parts in an assembly and I am sure it enabled me to select the faces to mate while still having the non-selectable ghost. Isn't that the same as SW only with the ghosts shown? Maybe we need a checkbox to turn the ghost off.

Oh snap! It works. I take it back, it was the behavior I saw when i started using OS. I put a hateful mental block on it since and havent used it since..

Thanks @brucebartlett for pointing that out
