Hi there!
Is there a setting that disables that Onshape zooms out and rotates when you select a plane view?
I would like it to stay in current position, current zoom, and just rotate to the selected veiw.
Thanks

It seems the arrows surrounding the view cube just give a rotate without the zoom.
Often I'll just click on a face and hit the "N" key for view normal to.

While there isn't a view mode that mimics your desire exactly, you can define any custom view you want and easily return to the same orientation, zoom and location time after time.
