How do I orientate an imported STP model with my sketch planes??

Richard_HRichard_H Member Posts: 7 PRO
I've imported a STP model but I can't orientate it with my sketch planes.
I'm sure i'm missing something simple - or maybe not.
Instructions will be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Richard! You can use the Transform tool for this.

If you need more help, please post a link to your document.

Hi, and welcome to the forum.

Have a look in the help section under "transform", specifically "transform by mate connector".  If it doesn't make sense please post a link to what you've got so far and somebody will help you out.

Depending on the imported model, whether it's with faults or not, I like to clean up the model, reorient it and export as a parasolid into a tab and reimport back into the same document.

I've had issues with models that are so slow that they drag everything down with them so I find this to be a good method before I start using the file. It can keep the tree tidier and decrease Regen time on really troublesome files.

I've shared a link to the file and will appreciate any help.
