Issues with solving an assembly

I am trying to solve an assembly so that when I animate it I know it will function correctly. Needless to say I don't know where I screwed up. its supposed to act like a scissor lift that can tilt left. Link below.

Is desk lift mechanism 2 supposed to act like a scissor? And tilt left? Or is Assembly 1 supposed to act like a scissor and tilt left.
Another thought, is there a way to represent both conditions for the scissor? Closed in the collapsed condition, and open in the extended condition. Could be anything from stick figures to your current doc with mates suppressed and the parts moved in to both positions to get a better idea of how the assembly is supposed to behave.
That way it might be easier to get some help on how to get the assembly to behave between those 2 conditions.5
