Maximise piece for 3D Print

brian_deasybrian_deasy Member Posts: 9

Hi,

I created the attached piece in OnShape. I want to print about 30 of them. Has anyone any adive on how to change the piece to speed up the printing process? What settings should I use for printing? Should I use supports? Plate adhesion?

Thanks in advance.

Brian, please post a link to your document. Your questions are better posted in a 3D printing forum. Nonetheless there may be something within your model that someone may be able to make a suggestion on. Personally, I am leery in downloading and opening a zip file. - Scotty

No 3D printing expert here. but doesn't the 3D printing auto add support where needed? Here's one angle to the model

Yes, please copy and paste the url here. No need to export and attach a file.

Did you print qty 1 to test?

In general the model looks good for 3d printing. I don't think it needs support. There are some surface defects on the bottom cutouts that look like an export issue. (use step instead of stl, all the printers use step now. stl is a poor format).

they are features not defects. the stl file is high res

Mine imported with missing surfaces on the bottom two features. Your import was clean?

Ah. no. I didn't inspect it that closely. I see that same holes. that's likely a modeling error where its just surfaces and hasn't been closed yet. I doubt the stl export went bad.
