Approach to modify mixed modeling feature of step file.

How would you approach moving this hole a few mm toward that tab? Keep in mind this was a mixed modeling projects and that hole and post are orignally an import of a step file and not a sketch and extrude. Just generally curious how other would attempt this. I did it one way and will share it after a few responses.

Move face with the "translate option should do it… Just have to select the inner hole and outer diameter of the boss, should work "as-is" although might have issues if it starts interfering with the fillet (i.e. might have to remove the fillet first…)
how do you remove the fillet since its not a fillet feature? I know I have to be doing that the hard way.

Ah yes, let me respecify. How would you remove a fillet that the direct editing tools doesn't want to modify in a messy mixed model?
There are a lot of different ways to get around issues like that. The first one is to delete face with heal. You'll need to select surfaces which Onshape can extend in order to "heal". Sometimes it can be easier to extrude a big block which adds a few surfaces to erase the problem ones, then delete the faces with heal turned on.
If it can't extend things, it can be painful.
This kinds of exercises tend to be highly dependent on the model. Sometimes it's amazing what you can do with direct editing, other times it takes a lot of step by step surfacing to fix things.
Well I started this discussion to see what methods people attack this sort of stuff but the forum isn't quite as active as I'd hoped. Of course the first responder would do what I did (move face - did not need to remove fillet, below is the result) spoiling my fun. Thanks Eric.😂When I tried it, I had zero expectation that it would work. and thought I would have to do some sketching, extrusion & boolean stuff to remove and recreate the geometry which isn't the end of the world but man to my surprise it worked. These direct editing tools are <fbeeep> amazing and so powerful. Sometimes I can't believe I witnessed what I did and have to undo it just to see it do it again.. I first learned parametric modeling on Pro/Engineer YEARS ago and tools like these did not exist. I loved doing parametric modeling and hated working on AutoCAD from that point on. But that was where the money was at the time so I"m only just now getting back into linear parametrics after a long hiatus with AutoCAD then Microstation 95, ewwww, then Revit (which is also awesome) and also spend most of my time in a specialized wood framing software. Learning onshape has been a nice break from the daily grind. And I'm hopeful maybe I can shift gears with jobs back into this type of work. For now its just a fun side gig that a client I have is reaping the benefits of me not charging him for a learning curve. LOL
To whoever created these tools …my hat's off to you. Much Respect. Does anyone know if other programs like solidworks and fusion360 have tools like these?
sidebar: Why does italics make text bold in he forum? Also replace face/modify fillet won't remove the fillets in this example. Some of them I could but most it won't.
Most of the heavy lifting for the direct modeling is done by the Parasolid kernel. So in theory, any Parasolid based tool would be able to take advantage of it, but Onshape is definitely better than Solidworks in this respect. I haven't used NX, SolidEdge or many of the other big names which use Parasolid, but I have seen what it does for Plasticity - which currently has zero history other than undo - and it's amazingly fluid. It's pretty amazing how direct editing works, when it works.
