Why can't I rotate the dogbone link component (see image)?

I inserted the dogbone link into the assembly, then used a Revolute connection to define its motion about the hole it will connect to, in the connection preview, the "Animate Mate" feature shows the correct motion of the joint, but after I complete the joint definition, when I try to move the link, it acts like it is rigidly connected, and the whole assembly moves with it. What could be wrong here?

    If the whole assembly moves with it means the rest of the assembly isn't constrained…
    Try fixing the part it's mated to, that should take care of it…

    Tough to say without a link to the model. As a gut check I'd fix the other parts in place and try rotating it again using the arrow gimbal, not just clicking and dragging the part. If that works you may just have an underconstrained model (at least one part of the assembly should somehow be constrained so it can't move and everything else should be anchored to this). If it fails I'm not sure without model access.

    Thank you, that was why the whole assembly rotated around during "animation" of the joints.

    However, does the functionality exist in OnShape to simple grab the parts and manually move them through the constrained motion?
