How to add standard part content from assembly workspace to part studio for editing ?.

I have modelled a base plate with threaded M6 stud mounted on it centrally. I want to fasten the stud to base plate by inserting a hex flange nut. I found M6*1 hex flange nut in standard content in assembly workspace but it doesn't have internal threads. My idea is to use thread feauturescript or boolean operation with stud as a cutting tool to create threads on the nut. I am a newbie and exploring onshape, I request you to help me resolve this problem.

Why do you want internal threads on this part? If it's off the shelf hardware, you don't necessarily need to model al the details.

Others can correct me, but I don't think you can modify standard content - If there is a way send me a DM.

You can make a copy from assembly context

The vendor does not want threads. Threads are almost never modeled in industry. They make the CAD programs run slow, and make the 2D drawings harder to read.

Furthermore, if you hand drew the stud, that was not necessary. Look for PEM Stud in the standard content library in assembly. And for PEM in the hole creation tool in the part studio for the plate.

I beleive they will most certainly buy standard parts. I just thought It would help if I add these details in drawing. Thank you for your response.

Yes I drew the sketch of the cylindrical profile for the stud then used thread creator featurescript. Also, I modelled the hole by creating sketch and extrude feature rather than using hole feature. Thank you for the insight.

They will machine these parts but I am certain the nut and the stud would be standard parts. I still have one pertinent question. Onshape has extrenal thread feature which creates threads on bodies in 2d drawing. How can I use this feature on the flange nut which I have inserted in assembly from standard part content.

OOTB Standard content should have an option to add threads. Not necessarily fully modeled, but enough to show up in sections and drawings and such.
