Named Positions vs Configurations – What's Your Preferred Workflow?
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to hear how you all are handling this.
I have an air cylinder assembly that ideally has 3 configurations: extended, retracted, and free motion. It can be done in 2 ways:
1) Configurations
2) Named Positions
I find configurations to be a bit more convenient, especially when inserting an assembly into another assembly. However, if I am releasing the assembly, I have to release all the configurations in order to quickly choose a different option. Otherwise, it would select a version and then a different configuration. I see the advantage of Named Positions: everything stays under one configuration, which seems to work better for the release process.
Would love to hear your thoughts on which approach works best, and any pros and cons I might be missing!
Thanks in advance!

You can use configurations with "Exclude from properties" to avoid releasing all the configs.
