Assign Favorite Materials with a Single Click

Right now the process is (nominally):

  • Right click part
  • Click "Assign Materials"
  • Click searchbox for materials
  • Move fingers to keyboard to type the material name
  • Move fingers to mouse to select the material

Let me choose "favorite" materials and change the process to:

  • Right click part
  • Hover/click "Assign Materials"
  • "Favorite Materials" Pop up comes up next to the original material tab
  • I can single click a favorite material to assign it.
  • If I want to assign a non-favorite material, see prior process.

Assigning a material simply takes too long and I would love a simpler process. Also, most of us will have a standard set of materials we work with. For me to have to type "Carbon Steel" or "Aluminum - 6061" each time I want to assign it is frustrating when they are the most used metals for most people. Producing a favorites list that pops up automatically on the assign material click will save a significant amount of time in the process.

I have my own pretty short custom materials list that have only the materials I use most frequently and also have the names and material numbers that match the standards used in this part of the world. It is not exctly what you proposed, but already goes a long way.
