Editing Context with Imported files - Workflow Options/Bug??

Hi!
When you import .STEP files, you have a choice of splitting it into separate documents or one. The compromises between these options seems a bit extreme and I wonder if I'm running into a bug with the single document flow?
Is there a way to split everything into individual parts without having to span across multiple documents, putting them into folders that match the assembly structure?
Single Document Import:
If you import into a single document, you get the single part studio mess, making editing in context painful.
Is this expected or is this a bug?
Split into documents:
if you split into separate documents, you can edit in context again (yay!) but you run into the issue of being able to edit other assemblies as they're separate documents, you cant create new parts and drop them in easily as you run into the "operation cannot be completed as it would modify a saved version".
For example, this is what its like editing in context from the single document. It doesn't isolate or select the part your trying to edit in context,

What one would most probably expect as an ideal result is to get a single document with all parts being inserted in an assembly in their actual relative position and then also be represented as parts, either in one single part studio or each in their individual part studios. I have yet to find a use case for the 'split into multiple documents' option.
Combine into a single part studio. Pretend the other 2 options don’t even exist.
Is there a way to split those parts into individual part studios, editing in context doesn't really work well with 1800 or so parts haha
If you're getting 1800 parts, you most likely have a pcba in there with thousands of individual elec components not needed for mechanical design. "Delete part" on all of them. Just keep the bare pcb and the tallest components, plus any connectors needed. The speed of the model will thank you. I haven't come across anything that slows down OS as much as a PCBA import.
I run into this all the time. Its very difficult to select 1000 of the correct parts to delete them. What I do instead is hide all the parts I DO want to keep. Those are easy to pick, because they are big and only a handful. Then the only parts left on my screen are the indivdidual pcb compoents. Now, draw a box around your entire screen and press the delete part command.
A direct answer to your question is you can derive the part(s) you want to work on to another part studio.
