Why am I unable to cut a feature into my lofted body?

clemens_fockeclemens_focke Member Posts: 6

I have crated a wingsection using the loft feature on a profile generated from a profile generator. Now I want to cut a section out of this body using extrude or boolean. But as soon as the cutting feature cuts trough the surface of the body, the action fails. The errormessage says: Linear Extrude was not generated correctly. boolean operation did not return a valid body.

What am I doing wrong?

I think I solved the problem. The trailing edge was messed up. I defined the leading edge and trailing edge as connections in the loft feature, wich helped.

Thanks again for all your help.

Usually errors like this happen when vertices or edges try to share the same point making a 0 thickness part.

Try making your sketch a little larger than the part and see if that works.

Is the wing form a solid or a surface?

If it's a surface then try split surface using the sketch.

If a solid try changing direction.

Sorry, my German is severely limited. As Michael says link to document would be helpful.

If I extrude the sketch past the wing tip it works, but I only need a small portion cut out. Reversing the direction does not solve the problem. Can your document be changed to public access? A copy can be made to work out details. As is I can't roll back to see where issue begins and can't edit to solve problem.
