Automatic Assembly Sequence Generation

Sai_NelaturiSai_Nelaturi Member Posts: 5

Hi everyone, I'm from C-Infinity where we're building AutoAssembler — AI that can automatically generate assembly sequences from your CAD assemblies. You can use AutoAssembler for free here. If you login with your Onshape id you'll see your assemblies inside AutoAssembler. AutoAssembler will help you speed up design checks, process planning, and generating work instructions. You can create multiple assembly scenarios and share your plans with your colleagues. We'd love it if you try AutoAssembler and give us your feedback! If there's enough interest from the community we'd be happy to build an Onshape app extension so you can do assembly planning in a tab within Onshape. Let us know!

Thanks!
Sai

    .

This is really cool! Looks like you put a lot of work into it.

    Feedback:

    • UI is really polished!
    • Integration with Onshape is almost perfect.
    • Simple and intuative.
    • Unable to get my Onshape document, had to manually upload the step file. Probably a small bug. It looks like it should work. Really nice search and thumbnails though.
    • Doesn't render the wheels properly, there are missing faces.
    • Wasn't able to successfully plan my assembly even though these parts are pretty straight forward, no flexing required for assembly. (Perhaps have a "Quick train" option that watches the user take apart their assembly. This would give the AI some general hints as to how it is supposed to be put together.
    • When selecting multiple parts with while holding control, it would sometimes loose my selection. Pretty frustrating to have to re-select everything. But in general, the selections look really good and work well.

    That looks interesting…

Thanks Michael! Love the feedback. We took a look at your model and it's quite interesting. The current version of the product doesn't handle threaded parts which explains why the parts couldn't be disassembled. However, we have an update coming very soon where AutoAssembler will give you a plan like this

We also noticed that the model has several interferences (mostly within the purchased trucks)

We're looking into the issue where the wheel faces weren't shown. AutoAssembler today can understand (modeled) CAD interferences and work around them. We'd love to talk to you and give you a deeper look into AutoAssembler! Let me know and I'll DM you :) .
