Making a part follow a 2D sketch

I am not sure if this will make much sense. I want to make my cable trays follow a 2D sketch, but I am not sure if that is possible, please let me know.

Place your sketch and parts within an assembly, you can use the Tangent mate paired with some other mates to have objects follow a path. The tangent mate doesn't support animations at this time, so if you want your part to be animated, you will have to have a guide part that pushes your trays along the path.

I don't have a link right now to show you I just would like to know if it is possible to make a part (derived) follow a 2D sketch
Could you possibly looking for the sweep tool? Hard to say without a visual what your asking for.
So, I tried the tangent mate and it's not exactly doing what I want it to do my cable tray placements are all 90-degree bends and the tangent mate doesn't allow you to rotate your part is there any other way? I want to be able to manipulate my part just telling it follow this sketch and then place that into an assembly.
