Dado Jig 1.jpg

I'm developing a Dado jig and I would like to have my two plywood arms (dark grey) to recognize my 2x4 in the middle when I slide the jig back and forth. Is there away to do this in onshape?

A couple of planar mates will close the jig, but I think what you're asking about is collision detection and no, Onshape doesn't do that.

Something you can do to solve this is have the jig use a few planar mates, and include a slider mate and set variable limits on it, based on the thickness of the board, which can be configurable (put a # before a dimension and then click "configuration"), and then drag the jig until it is at the limits. As @Matt_Shields mentioned, however, there is currently no feature in OnShape that allows for object detection in an assembly.
