DXF / DWG EXPORT UNITS

Craig_34Craig_34 Member Posts: 2 PRO

Hi, as of the last update, you can now override the default units when exporting a DXF or DWG flat pattern in sheet metal. The default is Meter, can you change this default setting? We use Millimeters, and didn't spot this change, we just caught it in time before the laser cut some very small parts 😁.

Many Thanks.

We would like to have inch since all our other default settings are set to imperial.

I have had to re-export four complete jobs since this change. It has cost me many hours of work.

I would like to have this settable as your own default also.

Same. This is getting really annoying. Who TF designs in meters?

I'll add to this… Opening a new flat pattern always defaults to metric. We would like units to be "sticky" across the board, not just within a particular document.

I don't even think they're sticky within the document… Created a new document a couple of days ago. Designed the first sheet metal part. Realized just as I clicked Export that the units were set to meters so I deleted that DXF and re-exported after setting to inches. Later that day, made a second sheet metal part. When I went to export, it was back to meters again…

One would hope that with the next release that Onshape can come up with an intelligent fix for this. I'm happy to be able to set units for export, but the way that it defaults back to meters is a big screw up.
