So I'm trying to make a cut into the surface cone to then flatten it out and have a this split as a rip edge. It basically will not let me split the selected area for some reason and when i use the hypotenuse of the first sketch it splits the whole cone in 2 halves. Please help me and feel free to ask me for clarification if I'm being a bit confusing. I'm very new to Onshape fyi.

You can't split a revolved face on one side. What you probably need/want to do is cut a very tiny amount off the top, and extrude a very thin cut down the side where you wanted to split. Then you can convert to sheet metal and unfold.
