I don't see the new "query variable" feature in existing documents

I'd love to use the "query variable" feature in a current project, but I don't see the button. I've confirmed the version number is 1.203. I do, however, see the button in new documents.

Hi @ben_davis982. The bottom of every "Improvements to Onshape" post has this:
Remember:
The updates listed here are now live for all users when creating new Documents. Over the next few days, these features will also be available in Documents created before this update.
For a kick start of the update version of a document is to send the document to trash then restore from trash. The next time the document is opened a query will ask about scheduling an update. Your answer will be 'now'. You will have to wait while the update is done.
You don't need to do this anymore… You can go in the hamburger menu an select "updated workspace" now!
@eric_pesty that takes all the fun out of it though. How am I supposed to spike my team's anxiety now if I'm not required to throw weeks of their work in the trash temporarily?
The part that really gets me is when you have to click on "restore", and it's right next to "Delete", always makes me sweat!
Thx Eric. I need to be reminded every once in a while when new thing come along.
@eric_pesty Thanks! I must have missed this in one of the updates.
I really didn't like that adrenalin rush of having a document pixels away from perma-death.

Query Variable is removed from your toolbar by default, and must be added in by customizing your toolbar.
??? Not in my experience.

i never saw it, or could even find it until i looked there, and it was 100% not included in my toolbar by default.
It won't be there on older documents until they update.

none of my document, old or new, had the query variable icon in my toolbar until i used customize to add it. i haven't used customize for at least a year before today, so there's no chance that had removed it.
Hmmm. That's interesting. I don't have my toolbar customized, and I'm on enterprise. I don't know if that's related to it showing up just fine for me.

Customizing toolbars can cause some weirdness when new things are added…
At least the "Search tools" will find it now (used to not find things that weren't in any toolbars), I ran into that when a new tool was added a while back (don't remember which one…).
Toolbar customization needs some love as it's pretty messy right now!
All i want is two rows and the ability to place custom features there.
make it float too.
Can't do two rows, but you can customize and re-organize stuff, the only "catch" is that the toolbars you want to edit have to be fully "expanded" horizontally, which can be hard if you have a lot of custom features in there!
The best way I've found to do this is to move the "target" toolbar section (the one you want to add a custom feature to) all the way to the left, and put the custom features one next to it on the right.
Then maximize the window (across all your monitors if possible) and zoom out in the browser until both toolbars fully expand and you should be able to drag and drop things in the "customize toolbar" mode (hopefully you can still see what you are doing!)….
If I zoom out enough I can see all of it at once, super functional as you can see!
