Making a Flat layout for Laser Cutting

in General
Is there an easy way to bring parts made on different planes into a 'Flat Form' and nest for laser cutting. I make a lot of laser cut things for kids to build. I have to bring them into an assembly, flip them around, mate and nest them to get the best use out of my material. Then I export the 'Flat Assembly' to a drawing and save as a .DXF. Is there a better way to do
this.
