Ability to Show / Hide at any level of CAD structure

I'm assuming you are talking about drawings?
You should be able to create display states in your assembly instead to show hide things at any level (including folders). The main issue with the approach is that it still needs to be "cleaned up" when you add things to sub-assemblies etc…
Just realized as I'm typing this that maybe that's what you are saying?
A similar system to named positions but for display states might be a good approach (or basically like configurations…)
