Quickstart: can't get the pin in the vice hole, using mate

I"m in the QuickStart document, in the Assemblies & Mating section. I can't get the pin in the hole using the Mate, despite trying several times and rewatching the instructions. The pin always ends up outside the hole, as shown here.

You need to ensure you select the correct mate connector on the pin. It should be at the center of this circular face:
