How to avoid pixelated shaded views in PDF exports of drawings

aquila_larsen874aquila_larsen874 Member Posts: 2

Is there any way to avoid/turn down this pixelated effect when drawing views have shading turned on?

The problem is present in both PDF exports and drawing views.

I have render mode set to best quality, and view simplification set to none.

The assembly is about 150m x 50m, with about 196 components (most of which are configured composite parts).

It is a layout drawing for a conveyor system (with only basic low-poly components).

I am aware that Onshape is probably not designed to handle a drawing of this scale, but other than this issue it works quite well for my application.

Apologies, I cannot share document link as it is under NDA.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Ooh I know this one! You need to set the tessellation quality higher in the assembly, not just the drawing view. Make sure the diamonds are visible in the assembly structure before updating your drawings. Here's a screenshot of the solve from my prior support ticket about this. Shout out to @Jason_S

I think it's related to the size of the views on the drawing.
You could try creating an extra large drawing (10x larger sheet size for example) and try that way. Of course that does have downsides as you would need a giant title block etc… and the scale would be messed up too…

@Jason_S , does tessellation setting affect the resolution of the shaded view generated on drawings?
