New login fields with password managers require double login

andyshinnandyshinn Member Posts: 5 PRO

Hi,

I don't like the new login flow where the password field shows up separately. FOr password managers this means you have to confirm the login twice which seems silly. I would request that you consider reverting this change. Thanks,

-Andy

    Hi Andy,

The change was necessitated by an increasingly larger number of users having a "regular" Onshape account and the same account being part of one or more Enterprise companies (with the same email address). This causes confusion during login where the user is not aware if they're signing into cad.onshape.com or one of their Enterprise accounts and are unable to find their expected documents, or worse — end up creating documents in the wrong "place" — giving access to unintended recipients.

Below is an example of the additional screen that is shown to such users during the login. We have tried to minimize the disruption to users who are not in this category, but the catch-22 here is that we need to know who a user is before showing the right options, hence the two steps.

This is common practice for enterprise software that allows the same email to be used for multiple accounts, as Onshape does.

Thank you for the feedback - we'll continue to look for ways to streamline this.

@Vajrang_Parvate are you telling me I don't need to make new company email aliases for all of my team members going forward on our Pro accounts? The document control reasons you listed are why I've got that _BD at the end of my name and why my team is running on alias emails generated specifically for Onshape. Or do you only get these other login options under an enterprise account?
